“Mass Confusion,” oil on masonite, is one of my favorite paintings by sister, Sharon Craven Kinzer. The title refers to the confusion of images, but also suggests spiritual unrest.
I love the painting so much, I used it for the cover of my book, WHISH. In this collection of surrealistic prose poems, hours, minutes, and seconds manifest as quirky human characters — secretaries, bookkeepers, and an array of scoundrels.
WHISH won the 2024 Award for Poetry at Press 53 and can be ordered from online booksellers or your local bookstore.
The original painting is not for sale.
